In July 1999, I started an electronic newsletter called Long Island Lighthouse Notes. The newsletter started out going to a few folks, but as the site grew in popularity, so did the list. I lost track of the subscribers at around 700.
In 2003, I did not send out many editions of the Notes. The time needed to complete my book, combined with the increasing amount of time needed to maintain the list, made it difficult. Over the holidays, I thought about what to do with the newsletter. It had proven quite popular, and was a way to connect with many lighthouse fans. Eventually, I decided that most of the problems could be avoided by putting the newsletter on the web site.
The newsletter will only be published on the web site, as of February 1, 2004. Stop by every so often and see what is going on. I'll continue to include preservation and events updates, as well as some historical tidbits here and there. I invite, and look forward to, your comments and questions.
