Petition to Restore, Preserve, and Relight the Plum Island , NY Lighthouse

We, the undersigned, petition that the Plum Island, NY lighthouse be leased to the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation ("the Foundation") to prevent the loss of this historic structure. The lighthouse has been neglected since it was decommissioned in 1978 and efforts must be made soon in order to save this part of American maritime history. The success of the Foundation in rebuilding, relighting, and maintaining the Long Beach Bar lighthouse as a federal aid to navigation is a success story which must be repeated for the Plum Island lighthouse.
