Petition to Restore, Preserve, and Relight the Plum Island , NY Lighthouse

We, the undersigned, petition that the Plum Island, NY light station be transferred to the Town of Southold, in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and the National Historic Lighthouses Preservation Act of 2000, to prevent the loss of this historic structure and to preserve it as a publicly available historic resource. The lighthouse has been neglected since it was decommissioned in 1978 and efforts must be made soon in order to save this part of American maritime history.
